The application updates your system host’s file, which provides a list of mappings between host names and IP addresses, using a rooted device.
The application uses the VPN feature on non-rooted devices to prevent outgoing connections to trackers and advertisements.
As a result, when an app asks a server in that file for an advertisement or a tracker, the request is forwarded to the local IP 127.0.0.1, which has no effect.
You can download host files from within the app to incorporate predetermined advertisements and blocker lists. You can also use your own files and add particular hosts to the lists of allowed and forbidden hosts.
Run a local webserver to react to obstructed hostnames and send requests to a different IP address if you choose.
