1/2 cup canned crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
8 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
10-12 fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) with a baking stone or steel in the oven if you have one.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Transfer the pizza dough to a pizza peel or the back of a baking sheet.
Spoon the tomato mixture over the pizza dough, spreading it evenly with the back of a spoon, leaving about 1/2 inch of crust around the edge.
Layer the mozzarella cheese slices over the sauce.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated baking stone or steel in the oven, or place the baking sheet with the pizza on it in the oven.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
Remove the pizza from the oven.
Tear the basil leaves and scatter them over the pizza.
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the basil.
Slice and serve the pizza hot. Enjoy!
