Dodge the Processed Foods and Cancer Connection
Matthew Perry plays a clueless process server in the 2002 film Serving Sara, who utilizes deception and a six-pack of beer to achieve an (artificially) affluent living. We could have informed ’em anything that’s highly processed never amounts to anything in the end if it didn’t fizzle at the box office. In fact, it might be harmful to your health (and your career). And if you’re eating processed food, such as lunch meats, sugary snacks, and empty calories, your chances of living a long, healthy life and having a younger RealAge are dwindling.
Guys: According to a study from New York University, drinking sugary beverages on a regular basis triples your risk of prostate cancer! Pizza, burgers, and meat sandwiches are on the menu. It’s been multiplied by two. Do you want to make a Coke and salami sandwich? To us, this sounds like super-difficulty!
Gals: You’re not out of the woods yet. Those foods wreak havoc on your immune system, wreak havoc on your glucose levels, your heart health, raise your risk of breast cancer, and ensure a battle of the bulge. However, there is some good news: eating a diet rich in complex carbs like those found in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains can reduce your risk of breast cancer by 67 percent!
For both men and women: Eating beans, lentils, and peas is linked to a 32% decreased risk of all cancers linked to being overweight or obese, including cancers of the esophagus, colon, and rectum, endometrial, kidney, thyroid, and gallbladder, as well as prostate and breast cancer. So, if you’re trying to improve your health, get rid of processed foods as soon as possible.
