Winterport school celebrates “WinterKids”

Winterport school celebrates “WinterKids”: The subsequent outdoor pleasure is one of the nicest aspects of significant snowfall. The Leroy H. Smith School in Winterport hosted the yearly “WinterKids Family Fun Night” on Wednesday.

In the play area, which was covered in more than 12 inches of snow, elementary school pupils let their imaginations run wild.

Sledding, relay races, snow fort building, and of course lots of hot cocoa were among the activities.

Keeping youngsters and families active throughout our coldest months is the aim.

Winterport school celebrates “WinterKids”: School counselor Kim Raymond stated, “Some of the WinterKids activities we do. We hope this inspires students, teachers, and our families to be active and attempt some of these things at home as well.”

Fourth grader Aisley said, “I like hot chocolate, but I also like sledding.

Fourth grader Addisyn commented, “We started the winter with rain and then snow, and then rain and then snow, and now we have over a foot of snow.”

Schools from all throughout Maine compete in the WinterKids Winter Games until February 3 for a chance to win $30,000 in cash and prizes.

The Wiliams Cone School in Topsham and the Leroy Smith School are currently tied for first place on the WinterKids rankings.
