The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which collected data from 29,400 persons between 2013 and 2018, was conducted for the study, which was then published online on July 12, 2022, in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. Participants displayed the prescription bottles for each drug they had taken during the preceding month at each of the three visits during this time.
