The performance of all-rounders is anticipated to be the highlight of the upcoming major event, which is due to begin later this week. The World Cup 2023 will include several new hitters and several bowlers across different teams.

Here are the five up-and-coming all-around players to watch at the World Cup:

Hardik Pandya (India)

Pandya, 29, led the Gujarat Titans to two consecutive final appearances and a title in the Indian Premier League, where he honed his aggressive batting style.

Pandya’s career has been limited by a back ailment, but despite this, he has developed into a dependable player with both bat and ball, always remaining composed and confident in the center of the field when the going gets tough.

Pandya, who bats in the middle order primarily, can be promoted if India needs to advance their innings or take the role of the anchor when things get tough. He is the bowler India chooses to use in the middle innings when they require some medium pace.

Mitchell Marsh (Australia)

Following the injury to Travis Head, Marsh has replaced Warner as Australia’s de facto opener, appearing first on the team roster.

The 31-year-old has played in five games on Indian soil this year, averag ing over 75. He was Australia’s mainstay in a three-match series in March that the visitors won 2-1 and received Player of the Series honors for his 194 runs.

With 54 wickets in 79 ODIs, Marsh has transitioned from a middle-order finisher to an explosive opener. When needed, he can also be a useful spinner.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh)

Shakib, the elder statesman of Bangladesh and current number-one all-rounder in both ODIs and T20s is 36 years old and still going strong.

Since his World Cup debut in 2007, Shakib has been the team’s captain. He set the record for the most runs in the group stage (606 in eight games) and also claimed 11 wickets in the 2019 tournament.

Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

Despite growing up in a violent nation, Rashid has grown to become one of the sport’s most recognizable figures. Rashid consistently delivers entertainment, whether he is outfoxing batsmen with his “googly” or taking on the bowlers with a strong strike rate deeper down the order.

Rashid has taken 139 IPL wickets, including 27 in the 2023 season, making him the expert on Indian conditions. Rashid, who once held the record for taking 100 ODI wickets the fastest, has 172 in 94 games with a respectable economy rate of just over four.

Chris Woakes (England)

Woakes was not considered a crucial member of the Ashes team before the series started earlier this year, but by the time it was over, he had played three games and had earned the title of Player of the Series for England after having assisted the home team in tying the contest at 2-2.

In the 2019 World Cup, where England won the tournament thanks in large part to his 134 runs and third-best 16 wicket haul for England, he demonstrated his significance with the white ball.

Woakes, who is still reaching over 140 km/hr at the age of 34, has been England’s go-to bowler with the new ball since Jofra Archer was injured.
