Shahid Afridi, a former captain and all-rounder for Pakistan, said on Tuesday that the Men in Green have a balanced team for the ICC World Cup 2023, but bowler Zaman Khan’s presence would have been preferable.

Given that it is being played in Asian conditions, Afridi, who led the Green Shirts in the 2011 World Cup, said Pakistan has the best opportunity to win the major competition.

“Where can Pakistan win the World Cup if Asian conditions are not conducive to victory?” said Afridi. “Batters can perform well in Indian conditions.”

“The team is balanced, only Zaman Khan’s selection is missing from the squad,” he continued.

The Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan and Usama Mir were then emphasized by Afridi, who believes that both leg-spinners will be crucial for the Men in Green during their campaign.

“Shadab and Usama’s performance will be crucial. They must begin getting outs in the middle overs. Shadab will hopefully get wickets, he remarked.

It should be mentioned that despite scoring a mammoth 345 against the Black Caps in their first exhibition game, Pakistan lost by a wide margin and New Zealand completed the chase in just 43.4 overs thanks to some poor bowling from the Green Shirts.
