Let’s face it: Miami is popular. It’s no secret that we’re prone to a light flex in this town. Objectively speaking, it is extremely cool. So cool, in fact, that one of our favorite areas of the city has now been listed. Listed as the 29th coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out in 2022.

This year’s list is determined by polling thousands of city inhabitants worldwide for our Time Out Index study. only includes Coconut Grove as the lone Florida neighborhood.

As usual, we inquired about the hippest locations in each city at the moment in order to compile our final list of the coolest neighborhoods on the globe for the fifth year in a row. We incorporated their opinions with professional advice from Time Out’s global network of local editors and writers.

Consequently, how did Coconut Grove make it into the top 30 this year? If you haven’t noticed, Miami’s hippest neighborhood has once again returned to its Bahamian influence after more than a decade of change. This has been made possible in part by the influx of new pubs and eateries. That has recently opened, including waterfront establishments and Michelin-starred eateries. Its main open-air retail mall, CocoWalk, has also had a total makeover. and now features a brand-new theatre and well-known stores.

However, the beauty of Coconut Grove’s local culture is what we adore the most. Among the many attractions is local art. A fantastic farmers’ market, chefs from Miami, vintage members’ clubs, a decades-old lemonade truck, and a spectacular waterfront mansion turned museum.

The top 5 of the year

The top spot this year went to Colonia Americana in Mexico’s cultural capital, known as the center of Guadalajara’s underground scene. Cais do Sodré, which is ranked number two, has been the center of Lisbon’s nightlife for a number of years. But in 2022, it is more vibrant than ever, notably its vibrant “pink street.”

The third place went to the upscale, riverfront Wat Bo Village in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Fourth place went to the diverse, local-focused Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. Fifth place went to the Mile End neighborhood in Montreal, Canada. which is home to some of the best restaurants and independent stores in the city.
