Ingredients:
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 1/2 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
- 10-12 fresh basil leaves
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) with a baking stone or steel in the oven if you have one.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Transfer the pizza dough to a pizza peel or the back of a baking sheet.
- Spoon the tomato mixture over the pizza dough, spreading it evenly with the back of a spoon, leaving about 1/2 inch of crust around the edge.
- Layer the mozzarella cheese slices over the sauce.
- Slide the pizza onto the preheated baking stone or steel in the oven, or place the baking sheet with the pizza on it in the oven.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
- Remove the pizza from the oven.
- Tear the basil leaves and scatter them over the pizza.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the basil.
- Slice and serve the pizza hot. Enjoy!
