Outer Banks Season 3 on Netflix has finished filming and will be available on Netflix in 2023. Here is an updated summary of everything we currently know about Outer Banks season 3, including the three new cast members, filming dates, what to anticipate from the storyline, and more.

The juvenile criminal drama series made its debut in April 2020 and returned in July 2020 for a much-anticipated second season. Outer Banks Season 3 Cast: Who’s returning and who’s new?

As part of the renewal, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shanon Burke will return as showrunners and executive producers, according to a press release obtained by What’s on Netflix.

Additionally, we are aware of the important cast members who will return for season 3:

• Anthony Davis
• Makenzie Cline
• Pankow, Rudy
• Dallas North
• Chuck Esten
• Starkey, Drew
• Richard Grant (upped to season regular for season 3 after debuting in season 2)

In June 2022, we got word of three new major castings for season 3 of Outer Banks via Deadline.

The new cast members to feature going forward includes:

• Carlos Singh, a Caribbean Don who is bright, cultured, and cunning and who is on his own treasure hunt, will be portrayed by Andy MacQueen (Station Eleven).
• Sofia will be portrayed by Fiona Palomo (Control Z on Netflix), a Pogue who secretly wishes to fit in with the country club crowd. She begins to develop a strong bond with Rafe since she is likable and resourceful.
• In season 3, Ryan will be portrayed by Star Girl’s Lou Ferrigno Jr. He is Singh’s chief enforcer and security officer. He is described as calm and composed but young and hungry. He has enough experience to maintain his composure, but he is also aware of the consequences of failure.

On July 1st, local news outlet WCBD News 2 stated that the show was actively casting a young John-B lookalike.

They claim:

The director of the show, John B, is reportedly seeking for a young actor to play a younger version of the character in a forthcoming episode, according to casting agencies.

A male Caucasian child between the ages of five and seven must meet the requirements. He must have light brown hair and brown or hazel eyes. You are requested not to submit your child unless they fall within that age range and approximate the part that actor Chase Stokes is portraying.

Additionally, casting calls for bartenders, waitstaff, adult Kooks and Pogues, Kook Dads, and some photo doubles were made public.

Additionally, IMDb claims that a few lesser casting decisions have been made for the upcoming season, including:

• Officer Henderson is Ted Art Newkirk
• Played by Rick Perez.
• Cruise ship patron Angela Lentz
• Security guard Drew Broderick

As you may have heard, Alexander Jennings, one of the body doubles, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident that occurred while season 3 was being filmed. Kimmie Stewart, the casting director, told The Post and Courier that Jennings was “one of the loveliest people I’ve ever encountered” and that “we are all in full shock right now.”

What is the production status of Outer Banks season 3?

We wrote about the Outer Banks season 3 filming dates in December 2021.

According to the season 3 shooting dates, filming would take place in Charleston, South Carolina, starting on February 16th, 2022, and continuing until August 19th, 2022. Outer Banks Season 3 on Netflix

Valerie Weiss confirmed that filming did begin on February 15th in a post on Instagram on February 14th, 2022, with the caption:

I’m sending my @obx family a lot of love as they start shooting Season 3 tomorrow! See you all shortly.

Season 3 of Outer Banks will feature many episodes directed by Valerie Weiss, one of which was filmed over the course of one night in early August 2022.

On February 28, Netflix themselves made the official announcement that filming was still continuing on. The show had been under development for about a week at that point.

Throughout the summer of 2022, Outer Banks season 3 was still being filmed.

As early as August 10th, a post on Chase Stokes’ Instagram stories suggested that the majority of filming was finished.

On August 31, a cast member announced that the shooting had finished in Barbados.

There is still more to shoot in Charleston, but right now, I could not be more appreciative of the wonderful job that keeps me here or the incredibly gifted and really nice cast and crew I get to work with every day. How well did Outer Banks season 2 perform on Netflix?

The shows included in Netflix’s new top 10 metrics saw 322.59 million global viewing hours between July 26 and September 5, 2021.

For the first four weeks after its Netflix premiere, it ranked first.

The show attained the eighth-most popular show ranking on the IMDBPro MovieMeter.

Why is there a delay in renewing? Although we don’t officially know why the renewal took so long, we can speculate based on the length of time that past renewals took.

Salary negotiations are almost probably going down with large ensemble cast shows like Outer Banks. We observed significant wage discussions for shows like 13 Reasons Why, Never Have I Ever, and On My Block after season 2.

Chase Stokes stated in an interview at the beginning of December that he was hopeful but was not aware of any renewal:

We always leave it up to our great writing staff to “kind of figure out the story” because they are so talented. I’m really eager to get my hands on it when, and hopefully, Netflix gives us the green light,” he said in December 2021. “And every time we get a screenplay it’s just sort of blowing our chairs off,” he added. We’re still patiently waiting, just taking it easy as we try to guess when it will happen, if they will contact us, or if we won’t get the call, just so you know. Right now, we’re sort of in limbo. We obviously want to do it because the fans do, so fingers crossed that the timing will be appropriate.

What to expect from Season 3 of Outer Banks on Netflix

Let’s quickly review Outer Banks season 2 and where it will lead us in season 3.

Pope’s desire to recover the now-stolen golden cross will probably lead to the continuation of the conflict between the Camerons and the Pogues.

Pope declares, “It’s not finished,” as they escape the enormous ship and seek safety on a far-off deserted island. Despite their decision to remain on the island, it is likely that they won’t be there for very long considering that their family has reported them missing.

Pope is expected to keep learning more about his ancestors’ involvement with the Cross of Santo Domingo.

In season 2, Ward Cameron famously pretended to die, and he is currently attempting to disappear. It’s likely that Ward will continue to play a crucial role in the battle moving forward after a few run-ins toward the close of a second season, including John B sparing his life. But will he be discovered?

How and why Big John is returning is the biggest unanswered issue heading into season 3. He appears to imply that he is aware of the location of Denmark’s Cross despite having a “half-dead” prognosis. What kind of effects will he have in the future? All we can do is wait and see.

“John B. has to reconcile his romanticised vision of his dead dad with the reality of his alive dad. His relationship with his dad is a significant issue in the book, as is the fact that his dad will finally come back around. It provides us with a tonne of father-son-related themes to work with.

While the Pogues are down, they’re definitely not out, according to Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, who also implied that they would immediately resume their search for gold.

If there is a third season, it would be great to watch them start to genuinely get to know one another. Despite the fact that they are married, they truly don’t really know anything about one another. That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. It is clear that they have experienced a lot together.

The authors “really like to keep us on our toes,” said Chase Stokes, “and I think it creates performances that catch you in the moment… ” Season 3 will have a “vibe shift,” he hinted to EliteDaily. Beyond the scenes we shot in Barbados, I have no idea what is happening, and I believe many loose ends will be wrapped. Many queries will be addressed. And as usual, these children will be subjected to a great deal of hardship.

Travis Garret Long, who serves as the show’s body double and spoke to WGTC in September 2022, hinted that this season will be “full of action” and “a lot of resolve for some of the demands and requirements of viewers.”

How many seasons of Outer Banks will there be?

Despite being one of the most watched shows on Netflix, Outer Banks may not always be available.

We might be nearing the conclusion, according to one of the show’s producers. Pate remarked to Entertainment Weekly:

Since the beginning, we have always thought of it as a four-season programme, possibly a five-season show, but definitely four seasons. We’ve kind of stretched it out quite a ways. I only hope we have the opportunity to share those tales.
