7 Places Serving the Best BBQ in Miami
The Best BBQ in Miami can be found at restaurants all over South Florida, from hip New Yorkers in Wynwood to dives in remote locations like Homestead to long-standing local favorites. In addition to the well-known Miami steakhouses, the city has added a new type of grilled meat vendor during the lockdown: the pop-up, which offers tender ribs and smoked pork for takeout. The juicy, meaty good stuff used to require city inhabitants to make pilgrimages to faraway suburbs and farmlands, but now there are many options for delicious BBQ in Miami, and we’ll happily eat it all year long. Bring on the ‘cue; after all, that is exactly how long Miami summers endure.
Where to find the Best BBQ in Miami
1. Hometown Best BBQ in Miami
Hometown led the pack (in terms of meat, that is) with the Allapattah offshoot of its renowned Brooklyn BBQ establishment before all of the 212 stormed the 305. The expansive covered outdoor area has a bar that runs the length of it and accommodates an equally expansive drink menu. To go with your hearty meal, choose from a choice of wines (included with tasting notes), regional brewers, and specialty cocktails. While ribs come in three different varieties and sizes, smoked meats, such as pulled pork and marbled brisket, are offered by the half-pound. It’s a place to share, especially if you want to start with a Frito pie or smoked brisket queso, which you should definitely do.
2. Shiver’s Bar-B-Q
Super-sized brisket, benches, and drinks may be found at Shiver. The Homestead institution has been cooking real hickory-smoked meats in the same manner for more than 60 years, including baby back ribs, pig spare ribs, chicken, and beef brisket. Since you won’t even need Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce because the pork is so excellent, they don’t even bother to serve it to you. Shiver is about 40 minutes south of downtown Miami, but it’s so, so worth the trip.
