What is a Salmon Cobb Salad?
The Salmon Cobb salad is a traditional American salad. It is commonly prepared with chicken, tomato, bacon, boiled eggs, avocado, chives, and Roquefort cheese and served with red wine vinaigrette.
The most widely accepted version of the Salmon Cobb salad’s history is that it was created by Robert Howard Cobb, a restaurant proprietor during the height of Hollywood. According to legend, he didn’t eat until almost midnight, at which point he tossed scraps from the kitchen together with French dressing to create this famous salad.
Directions
1. Step
Whisk buttermilk, mayonnaise, shallot, dill, lemon juice, and salt together in a bowl until the dressing is smooth; refrigerate.
2. Step
Mix lettuce, bacon, avocado, eggs, and salmon together in a bowl. Add dressing and toss until coated; season with black pepper.
The quickest and simplest method for preparing salmon for a salad, in our experience, is pan-seared salmon. Although salmon might also be roasted or grilled, the technique shown in the video works just as well. Make this salad for an evening with any leftover salmon from lunch, and you’ll be your own “Robert Howard Cobb!” (see the earlier article).
